Turkish Climate and Weather Forecast for Turkey

Istanbul and the Marmara region enjoy hot summers (25-30C), comfortable warm autumns (16C), and chilly, wet winters (5C) from November to February. The Black Sea coast is cool and wet most of the year. Central Anatolia sees hot dry summers and cold harsh winters, with parts of eastern Anatolia plummeting to -15C in winter.

When to go to Turkey

The best time to visit Turkey is between spring and autumn as the climate will be perfect in Istanbul and on the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts. It will be cool in central Anatolia, but not unpleasantly so. The Black Sea coast of Turkey is best visited between April and September; there will still be rain but not so much of it.

With the exception of Istanbul, Turkey does not really have a winter tourism season.

Places catering to backpackers usually see Anzac Day as the official start of the season and the package holiday makers for Turkey get going in early May. Holiday peak season in Turkey is from July to mid-September, when most Turks take their holidays.

Climate in Turkey: Marmara and the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts of Turkey have a typical Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild, wet winters. The east part of Turkey is mountainous with warm summers and very cold, snowy winters.
